Performance Assessment: Bar Soaps

We get it, selecting the right product to ensure that you not only smell, but feel clean can be an overwhelming task.

We here at EINNIM have done a ton of research to help you decide if bar soaps are the right option for you.

We’ve identified 5 performance metrics to help us come to a verdict… Check them out:

Skincare

Hygiene (duh)

Travel-friendly

Cost Efficiency

Sustainability

First thing’s first, let’s talk skincare. Bar soaps tend to fall short in this area because they get a bad rap (i.e. not as hydrating). While this may be the case for some big name brands, this is absolutely not the case for higher-end bar soaps. The added botanical oils tend to be better for the skin and if you choose a goat milk soap bar, you’ll find that the milk is a good source of vitamin A, which is a fat-soluble vitamin known to have anti-aging properties.

Now I’ve grown up around and with a ton of skin sensitivities so this isn’t always the case for everyone. If you suffer from eczema, psoriasis, etc., we highly recommend consulting with your doctor to find the best solution for you, especially if you plan to use your bar soap as a face wash.

Performance Grade: B-

Which brings us to hygiene. Look we totally get it, the messy residue left over after you use a bar of soap can be off-putting, but there are TONS of solutions for that.

Case in point: Soap Lift®

Have you heard of these little miracle workers? Not only are they eco-friendly, but they are BPA & Phthalate Free as well!

They absorb the messy residue allowing you to keep your bar soap bacteria-free after each use. If you notice that there’s some caking going on, just rinse this little guy off with water and get back to business!

Problem solved!

Residue aside, hands down, bar soaps are our favorite way to cleanse our bodies. From the rich cleansing and lathering properties of coconut oil to the conditioning properties of olive oil, you absolutely can’t beat the smooth feel that you get after using a bar of soap!

Performance Grade: A-

Now, we know… this post is seeming to be suspiciously biased. You’re not wrong… but hear us out.

Let’s talk about traveling. How annoying is it to have to purchase entirely new products to meet the 4 oz rule when you’re going through TSA at the airport?

Do you know what would solve that issue? Bar soap.

Plop that guy into a nice little soap container with your Soap Lift® and you’re on your way!

Long gone are the days of trying to figure out what makeup you have to leave behind because it won’t fit in your Dopp Kit with that extra bottle of body wash.

The fear of opening your bag to an exploded bottle of body wash is no longer a thing.

I think we know the answer to this one…

Performance Grade: A

Have you ever heard of the old saying, “you get what you pay for?” Well this is absolutely the case when it comes to skincare and body products. It’s like using Head & Shoulders on your hair and wondering why the color is dull and you have 0 volume!

While you can purchase a body wash for the same price as a bar of soap, the bar of soap will last significantly longer because of the amount used during each wash.

Also, keep in mind that you’re not just limited to using your bar soap in the shower.

Not only are you winning with quantity, but quality as well!

Performance Grade: A+

Let’s talk about a concept that has been a massive influence in our consumption of goods today. Sustainability. Let’s face it, bar soap is better for the environment for two main reasons: it creates less plastic waste and has a smaller carbon footprint than the liquid alternative.

From the packaging to the ingredients, bar soaps are the ultimate approach to ensuring that your daily routine is helping to keep our environment happy and healthy.

Performance Grade: A+++

So there you have it. Look, we totally understand if our extremely biased assessment of bar soaps hasn’t won you over.

Which is why we’re going to just leave this here…
